position title: business development manager and research

role specific responsibilities
works with the regional director and business development managers at wato china office and dsd's china desk to assist western australian organisations/companies in their pursuit of commercial opportunities in china.
assist rd and business development managers in facilitating the trade and investment promotion activities in china, including market research, client liaison, etc;
provide information to clients on opportunities available in china;
manage preparation of itineraries for incoming and outgoing visitors;
escort the incoming government delegations and visitors for business and provide interpretation service;
provide information on wa to companies and government agencies in china.
client servicing and relationships
examines and resolves client needs in a timely manner.
maintains a client focus consistent with the dsd's customer service charter.
develops knowledge of departmental and government services and requirements.
teamwork and team development
maintains effective team performance through developing working relationships with peers and colleagues in hangzhou and shanghai offices and in dsd to ensure the achievement of operational objectives.
actively participates in the dsd's performance management system.
undertakes duties of the position consistent with effective human resources management practices (including eeo, staff training and development, performance management, oh & s, public sector standards in hrm, public sector codes of ethics, dsd values and code of conduct).
maintains a client focus by ensuring that our customer needs are resolved in a professional and timely manner.

ability to communicate information clearly and accurately in both written and verbal format
ability to do oral and written translation between english and chinese languages demonstrated keyboard skills and pc application skills which include the use of excel spreadsheets, databases and powerpoint presentations.
relevant industrial background is a plus.
